In 1993,
I was introduced to the world of beading as a hobby. By 1998, my life changed forever when I was diagnosed with a Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy; a chronic progressive disease characterized
by severe pain, swelling and in the end quite debilitating. I graduate college as a Computer Net worker-Programmer in ‘99 and was unable to work.
I left my hometown of
Calgary, AB and settled west on Vancouver Island where I have been living since ‘99. After continually being told I could no longer work, I was drawn to my old love of beading as a healing
therapy. My motto was “healing one bead at a time”. I found gemstones not only calming to work with, but learned how to combine them into jewelry to strengthen their healing
values.
I
began training myself new techniques and using recycled materials to make my jewelry even more unique. In 2002, a local retailer discovered my Jewelry and my Jewelry went from therapy pieces to
wearable art overnight and “Mystic Island Jewelry” was born.
As Mystic Island Jewelry
continues to grow, I am always learning new techniques and keeping up with latest styles. Today I am getting requests for my jewelry as far away as Europe and Japan.
In 2012, I was introduced to Silversmithing and combined my beaded jewelry designs with silver into a new art form and top-notch designs that women want to add to their Jewelry Collection.
